The technical language of Italian excellence in English, French and Italian

Translation and interpreting for the world of Italian fashion

Italian excellence is born in manufacturing centres, factories and ateliers, and it’s only there that you really get a handle on the language that goes with it. I am a specialist, working out in the field. I know exactly what a fitting involves, I immediately recognise a birdseye weave, and I know the difference between lining and interlining. Transferring all of this into another language requires more than a generic translation. You need a professional that knows your sector inside-out and understands how to render every technical term in English, French or Italian with the same precision as the original.

Choose my specialist fashion-industry language services if:

  • you need someone who is familiar with industry-specific technical terms and who knows how to express them with the same precision in English, French or Italian
  • you work with international buyers, suppliers or partners and cannot risk technical approximations or loss of nuance
  • you are seeking a professional who knows Italian manufacturing culture inside-out and has gained direct experience in production centres, from the footwear businesses of the Marche region to the textile production of Tuscany
  • you want to protect your brand’s reputation in other languages.

What’s the real benefit for you?

I ensure the faithful transmission of your technical language in Italian, English and French, leaving you to focus on production excellence. Grainline or weft? Warp and weave? Lasting machine? Translating for fashion and luxury requires a full grasp of production processes, from beginning to end. This depth of knowledge allows me to carry technical content between languages with complete precision.

F.A.Q.

What’s the difference between translation and interpreting? Which do I need and when?
Translation deals with written text (e.g., technical specifications, catalogues, and contracts), while interpreting involves the spoken word and plays out in real time (e.g., trade fairs, showrooms, and factory visits).
Can I request a remote interpreting service for meetings with foreign buyers?

Yes! In addition to travelling to your company or trade fair, I also offer remote interpreting services for online meetings, collection launches and negotiations with international distributors, guaranteeing the same technical precision without travel expenses.

Do you provide interpreting services at industrial sites or trade fairs?
Both. I work at production sites, ateliers and workshops in footwear-manufacturing and textile hubs in Tuscany, Marche and across Italy, as well as at leading trade events for the industry: Pitti, Lineapelle, Micam, Milano Unica, and SAMAB.
Are technical documents and unreleased designs secure during translation?
Absolutely. Unlike automatic translation software, which stores data to train algorithms, I can guarantee your data is handled with complete confidentiality. Every document is treated as strictly reserved. I am happy to sign a dedicated NDA before the start of any project.
Why is automatic translation a risk in the fashion and luxury-goods sectors?
n automatic or generic translator does not understand manufacturing. In the world of luxury goods, mixing up terms such as lining and interlining or full-grain leather and split leather can compromise a brand’s products and their credibility. Working with a specialised professional guarantees technical precision, protection of trade secrets and legal compliance.

How much do technical translation, interpreting and writing services for the fashion industry cost?

Every project is different, so I always prepare a tailored quote.
My minimum fee for translation and writing services is €150.00 and this covers the translation of a technical text of up to 500 words between Italian and English or French. My minimum fee for interpreting services is €500.00 for a seven-hour day.
